Story of Mythology (part 1/5)

Q: Why are myths more than just stories?

A:  From the beginning of time, people have wondered about the mysteries of the universe. How did this earth come into existence? Why does it rain? Why does the disappear at night? Today, pf course, there are scientific explanations for many of these questions. In ancient times, however, people tried to make sense of these mysteries through myths. We can say that myths are explanations about the mysteried of the universe on the form of stories that ordinary people can easily understand.
Many myths deal with gods and goddesses, and their relationship with each other and with human beings. They are full of extraordinary characters in a super-natural world where nothing is impossible, and time has no meaning. However, myths are more than just stories. They cantain a message that has a religious or social significance, and which is a reflection of the people and culture of a particular region. This is what makes myths so fascinating. Don't you agree that there is something truly magical about the myths your grandma tells you?

Star Fact: The word 'myth' comes from the Greek word 'mythos', which means a 'spoken or written story', or also a 'sacred story'. A collection of myths is called mythology.
